The Great March for Climate Action
Join the largest coast-to-coast climate march in American history!
KICKOFF, RALLY, & MARCH
SATURDAY, MARCH 1ST
CLIMATE CHANGE IS PERSONAL!
On Saturday, March 1, at 9:00 a.m. (8:30 a.m. press briefing), join the SoCal Climate Action Coalition 350 and its regional partners to help kick off the Great March for Climate Action. Thousands are projected to join the mobilized mass movement starting in the Port of Los Angeles, one of the most fossil-fuel polluted communities in the country, now undergoing fresh threats from tar sands shipping and refining as well as a regional uptick in hydraulic fracturing. Marchers will head toward downtown LA-USC Exposition Park area for the Closing Ceremony, with hundreds continuing 3,000 miles to Washington D.C. to deliver the message that we need immediate legislative and executive action to solve the climate crisis.
We march to demand an economy that prioritizes energy efficiency, conservation and clean renewables, one that institutes rising fees on all use of dirty fuels to offset the significant costs incurred to our health, our climate, and our ecosystems. We march to demand a ban on fracking, elimination of tar sands, a rejection of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, all with an emphasis on environmental justice and equal protection for communities of color, working class, and indigenous.
